How To Claim Blog On Bloglovin Wordpress

Bloglovin

Bloglovin' is one of the most popular RSS feed readers out there and if you're not using it, you totally should!  If you haven't already added Bloglovin' to your blog, then this tutorial is in order for you.  Their process for claiming blogs has changed slightly recently, and I didn't even know until I went to claim Bliss & Faith and found out.  I thought I'd write a quick tutorial to let you know in case you're going through the process soon or later.  This is important to keep in mind if you plan on starting a blog or change URLs for your current site.

Basically, back in the day you could literally claim any site on Bloglovin by just clicking the "Claim This Blog" button.  That blog would then end up being added to your profile and you'd be good to go, no other steps.  I always thought this was kind of strange, since you could in essence claim anyone's site.  This is at least the way I understood it, because when I claimed my previous blogs I don't remember going through in additional verification process like you do now.  Nonetheless, I think its a great thing and you can do it in four easy steps.

Step 1:

Go to your Settings in Bloglovin, scroll down to "Blogs by me".  Its right under About and Location.  Click "Add Blog".

Step 2:

Next you'll come to screen with your Blog Analytics if you have any current blogs already on Bloglovin.  Click the "Claim blog" button.

Type in your blog's URL and click Search.  Bloglovin' will do search and the results will return all of the RSS feeds for your site.  Most of the time this is your actual blog and the comments.  In the screenshot below, you see the RSS feed for comments on my blog.  (My actual blog's RSS is not available to be claimed, because I've already claimed it.)  For you, you will go ahead and click on the RSS feed for your site.

Bloglovin' will open another box which will contain a code that you will place on your site.  You will want to make sure you copy the entire code, so click inside of the box and hit CMD-A (on Mac) or Crtl-A (on windows) and then hit Copy.

Go to your site and add the code to a text widget on your site.  I preferred to add the code to a text widget in my sidebar, rather than a post.  Once I added the code to my site, I went back to Bloglovin' and hit "Claim blog".  You'll receive a message from Bloglovin' letting you know you've claimed your blog on there.  At this point you're good to go and it will show up on your profile and in your Bloglovin' Analytics.

Sidenote:  I went back and deleted the code, since my site was already verified, however you can choose to leave it if you'd like.  This is another reason why I prefer to put the code in my sidebar, because it won't distract from the content of one of your posts.

So there you have it, four easy steps to get on the path to growing your following and community for your site.  Your Bloglovin' followers count as part of your blog subscribers, so when you're submitting stats for campaigns or creating a media kit, be sure to include them.  Also, by your blog being on Bloglovin', it will allow other to bookmark and share your posts easily.  You can also integrate Bloglovin with your Facebook and Twitter, so that when you publish a post it will automatically get sent to them.  I may write a tutorial in the future about how to do this, but for the most part both processes are very simple and take just a few moments.

Are you on Bloglovin'? – Do you use it for your blog or to read other blogs?  Are you using Bloglovin' to build community for your site?  What are some of other favorite RSS readers?
